EPD reveals identity of suspect in taking photos at Walmart
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Major Evansville dispatch confirms authorities responded to an active shooter situation Thursday night.
Sergeant Anna Gray of the Evansville Police Department tells 14 News that when police arrived, officers immediately entered the building.
“Officers arrived on the scene very quickly, they went right into Walmart,” the sergeant said. Gray said. “We had been given a description of the suspect
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office also responded to the photo taking, and both deputies and police officers went inside to find the gunman.
“Without delay, we put together a group with the Evansville Police Branch and began looking at the opportunity,” Vanderburgh County Sheriff Noah Robinson said.
“You may remember many years ago, the Columbine version came along, as you were settling into a scene and looking for backup to incorporate into a scenario
Police say that as police were entering the building, the suspect opened fire on the officers. More than one policeman shoots in the back.
Sergeant Gray says at least one person was shot and taken to the medical facility, but there will be more patients. So far the severity of the victim's accidents is unknown.
