Prime Minister Philip Davis met with US Vice President Kamala Harris at the White House the day before to discuss some of the issues facing the Bahamas and the rest of the Caribbean

“In discussing issues related to our bilateral relationship, the High Minister and the Vice President stressed the importance of strengthening efforts to combat illegal maritime

The High Minister also raised the importance of reestablishing the prior authorization centers in Grand Bahama, an important step to help the economic restoration of the island

He further stated that the dialogue was expanded to cover some of the local issues, including food and electricity protection, and efforts to combat climate trade

It was also mentioned that, as CARICOM president, Davis believes it is very important that the United States and other partners within the hemisphere
