Without a "dramatic increase" in flow by 2024, specialists warn that the lake will disappear in the next five years.

"Their disappearance could cause immense harm to Utah's public health, environment, and financial system," the authors wrote in the paper

“The decisions we make in the coming months will have an effect on our kingdom and ecosystems across the West for many years to come.”
