In a surprising turn of events, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk made a public appearance at a Donald Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, expressing full support for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla and the new owner of X (formerly Twitter), described the upcoming election as a pivotal moment for the future of the United States.
Dressed in black and wearing a signature “Make America Great Again” hat, Musk emphasized the importance of the 2024 election, stating that it could be America’s last chance to preserve democracy if Trump doesn’t win. “I’m not just MAGA anymore; I’m Dark MAGA,” Musk said, adding a dramatic flair as he spoke to the crowd.
This rally marked the first time Musk had joined Trump at one of his campaign events, signaling a growing relationship between the two high-profile figures. Musk has gone a step further by creating a super PAC that has been pouring resources into get-out-the-vote campaigns for Trump in the final stages of the election.

Earlier, Musk and Trump had a public conversation on X in August, where they discussed a range of political issues, including Trump’s plans for deregulation and his near-death experience in an assassination attempt in July. At the rally, Musk positioned Trump as a defender of free speech and individual rights, warning that Democrats are aiming to curtail these liberties. He criticized efforts such as California’s push to eliminate voter ID requirements, claiming such initiatives undermine democratic principles.
The rally took place on the same grounds where Trump had narrowly survived an assassination attempt in July, when a gunman grazed his ear with a bullet and killed a Trump supporter, Corey Comperatore. Several others were injured during the incident, but Trump has pushed forward with his campaign undeterred.
Musk’s appearance underscored the increasing intersection of technology and politics, as the tech mogul aligned himself with Trump’s agenda, cautioning voters that the nation’s freedoms are at risk if Trump does not regain the presidency.
